Teddy bears are familiar toys loved by many, especially children. Because they are used for hugging and as toys, they are easily left lying around, easily accumulating dust and bacteria, and need to be cleaned regularly to keep them clean and fresh. Cleaning small teddy bears with few accessories is quite easy; you can simply put them directly in the washing machine. However, washing larger teddy bears is not as simple.

How to wash large stuffed animals in a washing machine.
For large teddy bears that don't have plastic eyes or elaborate bows, you can wash them in the washing machine. It's best to put the bear in a specialized laundry bag, add detergent, and select a gentle cycle with cold or warm water. After washing, take the teddy bear out and hang it to dry in a well-ventilated area.
Note that when drying stuffed animals, you should place them on a drying rack and avoid using clips or hooks as these can deform the animal.
For those oversized teddy bears that your home washing machine can't handle, try this method:
- Carefully make a small slit in the back of the teddy bear and remove all the stuffing inside.
- Put the teddy bear's outer shell in the washing machine, and dry the stuffing in the sun.
- Once the bear's shell is clean and dry, stuff it with cotton and sew it shut with needle and thread.
But be careful when cleaning large teddy bears.
- Inspect the material of the stuffed animal before washing: You should check the label and instructions that come with it to see if it has any special structures like internal machinery or lights, or if it's made of materials that aren't water-resistant. This inspection will help you decide whether to hand wash or machine wash.
- Do not wash stuffed animals with clothes to avoid the stuffed animals leaching color from the clothes.
- If your teddy bear has loose threads or a tear that causes stuffing to fall out, you need to sew the tear shut with a needle and thread before washing it.
- Cleaning large stuffed animals is quite a chore, so you can regularly use a vacuum cleaner and lint roller to clean them, then periodically wash and dry them every 2-3 months.
- Stuffed animals should be kept in a dry, well-ventilated place, and should not be left lying around on the floor or in areas with high humidity.
- If the teddy bear is for display only and rarely used, you can store it in a glass cabinet or a clear plastic bag to prevent dust and dirt from accumulating.
