Making dried yogurt isn't as complicated as many people think. You can easily make delicious dried yogurt pieces for the whole family to enjoy.
You will need the following ingredients:
- Yogurt: If you're using homemade yogurt, make sure it's properly fermented and has a certain consistency. If you're using store-bought yogurt, choose unsweetened or low-sugar varieties to easily adjust the sweetness to your liking.
- Fresh or dried fruit: Fruits like strawberries, mangoes, kiwis, blueberries, or raisins and dried apples will enhance the flavor of dried yogurt.
- Honey or syrup (optional): Add a little honey or syrup to enhance the natural sweetness.
- Parchment paper: Used to line baking trays, preventing yogurt from sticking.
Line a baking tray with parchment paper to prevent the yogurt from sticking. Parchment paper also makes it easier to remove the dried yogurt after baking.
Pour the yogurt into a large bowl. If you want the yogurt to be sweeter, you can add a little sugar or honey and stir until the sugar dissolves. Then, add the fresh or dried fruit and stir gently to mix well. The fruit should be cleaned and cut into thin slices or small cubes.
Pour a thin layer of the mixture onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper, spreading it evenly with a spoon or spatula. Avoid making it too thick so that the baking process is quick and even.

Preheat the oven to a low temperature (around 70-80°C). Place the tray of yogurt in the oven and bake for 4-6 hours, or until a thin, crispy film forms and easily separates from the tray. During baking, check frequently to ensure the yogurt doesn't burn and reaches the desired dryness.
Note: Depending on the thickness of the yogurt layer, you will need to adjust the heat and drying time accordingly. Check frequently to prevent the yogurt from becoming too dry or burning.
Things to note when making dried yogurt.
- Choose quality yogurt: The quality of the yogurt will directly affect the taste of the finished product. Choose natural yogurt that is low in sugar and free of preservatives.
- Add flavor: You can add different flavors such as vanilla, cinnamon, or a little lemon juice to create a special flavor for the dried yogurt.
- Use dried fruit: Dried fruits like raisins, dried apples, or dried apricots not only enhance the flavor but also help preserve dried yogurt for longer.
- Check for dryness: To ensure the yogurt is evenly dried, test its dryness by breaking off a small piece. If the yogurt is dry and easily broken, it has met the requirements.
Once the yogurt has reached the desired dryness, remove the tray from the oven and let it cool completely. Cut it into bite-sized pieces with a knife. You can store the dried yogurt in an airtight container to maintain its flavor and crispness in a cool, dry place. Dried yogurt can be stored for several weeks.
