(VTC News) -

A young man in Lao Cai was fined 4,5 million VND and had his vehicle confiscated for allowing his 18-month-old son to stand and hold onto the handlebars while his motorbike rolled downhill.

Authorities in Lao Cai province have taken action against a young man after he posted a video showing an approximately 18-month-old boy standing in front of a motorbike, clinging to the handlebars while the vehicle rolled downhill.

Previously, on June 2nd, authorities discovered a video posted on Facebook that had attracted many views and comments. The clip showed a very young boy standing in front of a motorbike, holding the handlebars with both hands as the vehicle went downhill.

Upon verification, the perpetrator was identified as Hau A Ph. (born in 2007, residing in Hom Duoi village, Nam Chay commune, Lao Cai province), the owner of the Facebook account "Tub Phong".

Through verification, authorities determined that at approximately 4 PM on May 16th, Ph. was driving a motorcycle with license plate 24AA-833.43 on provincial road DT152B, heading from the Nậm Chày commune People's Committee area towards Nậm Cần village. When reaching the slope at Km14, the young man allowed his child, HAK (born November 20, 2024), to stand in front of the motorcycle and hold onto the handlebars.

Meanwhile, Ph. sat in the back, turned off the engine, and let go of both hands, allowing the motorbike to roll down the slope on its own. The entire incident was recorded by a chest-mounted camera for about 30 seconds before being uploaded to social media.

In addition, Hau A Ph. violated several other road traffic regulations. Specifically, he did not have a driver's license, did not wear a helmet while driving, drove with both hands off the handlebars, his vehicle lacked rearview mirrors, he did not carry vehicle registration papers, and he did not have mandatory civil liability insurance.

For the aforementioned violations, Hau A Ph. was fined a total of approximately 4,5 million VND. In addition, for the act of riding a motorbike with both hands off the handlebars, the authorities applied an additional penalty of confiscating the vehicle as per regulations.

This incident serves as a warning about the behavior of some individuals who disregard the law and engage in dangerous acts to create content for social media. These actions not only threaten the safety of the perpetrators but also pose a risk of serious consequences, especially when involving children.
