FIFA is providing additional VAR vehicles to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

(VTC News) -

The International Football Federation (FIFA) will provide the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) with two additional VAR vehicles in the near future.

Accordingly, Kenny Jean Marie, Head of FIFA's Member Federations Department, stated that the organization plans to provide additional VAR vehicles to Vietnam. Currently, VAR technology in Vietnam is applied using mobile vehicles rather than being permanently installed at stadiums. This approach helps the VFF and VPF save a significant amount of installation and equipment costs.

FIFA prioritizes providing two additional mobile VAR vehicles from its own financial resources. Currently, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) have two VAR vehicles purchased with domestic funding. VAR technology has been applied in three V-League matches and has initially yielded many positive results. Referees are greatly assisted before making important decisions.

"FIFA has advised us against applying VAR to overly difficult matches, as it can easily lead to problems. The Coppa Italia final might be the most challenging match for referees to operate VAR in this period."VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu shared his plans to introduce VAR into professional leagues."

From the end of December 2022, 18 Vietnamese referees and assistant referees participated in a three-step VAR training course. First, there was theoretical training, followed by two intensive training sessions in the lab. The final step was practical training on the VAR vehicle with progressively increasing levels of difficulty. Specifically, the training consisted of two days with two teams playing on a simulated field with short 10-minute scenarios; six days with two teams playing simulated 30-minute scenarios; and three days with two teams playing a full 90-minute match.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc - Head of the Organizing Committee of V-League 2023, commented:VAR will greatly assist referees in controlling matches. The V-League will become fairer, reducing referee errors. The game will be more equitable, and clubs will no longer have to worry about refereeing decisions.".
