Man Utd beat Liverpool in a thrilling match.
Manchester United continued to dominate the game. It wasn't until the latter half of the first half that Liverpool regained control. Man Utd slowed down the pace of the game to avoid counter-attacks. Opportunities occasionally arose in attack for Rashford and McTominay, but they failed to capitalize.
While Manchester United's defense was functioning smoothly, they unexpectedly conceded a goal due to individual errors. In the 44th minute, Nunez made a well-timed pass to Mac Allister, who unleashed a powerful shot to equalize 1-1 for Liverpool. Prior to that, the Manchester United players had failed to defend effectively against Quansah's dribbling efforts.
Just two minutes later, it was Bruno Fernandes' turn to frustrate Manchester United fans. He made a silly mistake losing the ball near the penalty area. Darwin Nunez unleashed a great shot, but Onana made an excellent save. In the subsequent situation, Mohamed Salah pounced on the rebound to put Liverpool 2-1 up.
In the second half, Man Utd continued to play well for the first 15 minutes. However, with their attack still missing opportunities, the Red Devils gradually ran out of steam and allowed their opponents to come back. Liverpool controlled the game and prevented Man Utd from building up play from their own half. Unfortunately, Liverpool failed to convert that advantage into goals.
Despite numerous attacks without scoring, Liverpool paid a heavy price. In the 87th minute, after Garnacho's effort to penetrate the penalty area, Antony executed a superb turn and shot to equalize 2-2 for Man Utd. In the final seconds of the match, Rashford faced goalkeeper Kelleher but unfortunately shot wide.
In the first period of extra time, Man Utd played better with explosive performances from Antony and Amad Diallo. However, the scenario from the two regular halves was repeated. In the 104th minute, Harvey Elliott's long-range shot deflected off Eriksen's foot, giving Liverpool their third goal.
Unwilling to accept defeat at home, Man Utd pushed their entire team into the opponent's half in search of an equalizer. In the 112th minute, Amad Diallo won the ball from a Liverpool player. McTominay then passed it to Marcus Rashford, who scored the equalizer, making it 3-3. Then, in the 120th minute plus one, drama unfolded when Garnacho sprinted at high speed, passed the ball to Amad Diallo, who scored the winning goal to seal a 4-3 victory for Man Utd.
