Ngoài viêc việc thắp hương, làm mâm cỗ cúng thì việc chuẩn bị văn khấn mùng 1 Tết cũng rất quan trọng. Văn khấn thể hiện sự thành tâm, tôn kính đối với vong linh tổ tiên, thánh thần.

Trong bài văn khấn, người dâng lễ trình bày rõ ngày tháng làm lễ, nơi ở, mục đích của buổi cúng lễ, cúng ai, tên những người trong gia đình, lời cầu xin và lời hứa.

Lễ vật cúng mùng 1 Tết thường có các vật phẩm: Mâm ngũ quả, hương hoa, giấy tiền vàng mã, đèn, nến, trầu cau, rượu, trà, bánh chưng (hoặc bánh tét) và mâm cỗ, có thể là cỗ mặn hay cỗ chay, được chuẩn bị kỹ càng và trình bày đẹp.

Now, according to the laws of nature and the cycle of yin and yang, the Lunar New Year arrives, the first day of spring, with refreshing rain and dew, welcoming the new year.

Descendants remember the boundless kindness of their ancestors, as vast as the sky and the ocean, and cannot repay even a fraction of it.

Therefore, we, along with all the children and grandchildren in the family, have prepared offerings, incense, flowers, and fruits, lit fragrant incense sticks, and respectfully presented them before the altar...

We respectfully invite our ancestors, great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers, uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters, male and female descendants, both within and outside the family, to have mercy on your descendants, to descend to the ancestral altar, and to bless and protect your descendants in the new year, granting them peace and prosperity, success in all endeavors, smooth sailing in their careers, protection from all calamities throughout the four seasons, and auspicious signs in all eight periods of the year.

We, your devout followers, respectfully invite the spirits of the past and present owners of this land to come and partake in this offering, and to bless us so that all our endeavors may be successful and everything may be auspicious.
