On May 28th, representatives from the Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Command Board - Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Cam Khe district (Phu Tho province) confirmed that the Dam Thin reservoir (Cap Dan commune, Cam Khe district), covering more than 15 hectares and holding approximately 600.000 cubic meters of water, had broken that morning.
"The dam broke over a length of about 5 meters. Immediately after the incident, the district mobilized all the army, militia, and surrounding communes to clear the waterway. At the same time, the district evacuated 17 households in the downstream area to ensure safety. Regarding property and crops, the district is currently compiling a report on the damage.""A representative from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Cam Khe district stated."

After the incident, locals brought their boats and nets down to the reservoir to catch fish. Many caught dozens of kilograms of fish, with the largest weighing up to 6 kg.
Reportedly, the Dam Thin dam was built 12 years ago and officially put into operation in 2010. It has a surface area of over 15 hectares, a capacity of approximately 600.000 cubic meters of water, and provides irrigation water for 128 hectares of rice in the spring crop and 72 hectares in the autumn crop.
