4 ways to get an ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) tag for free.

(VTC News) -

From August 1st, all expressways will only collect tolls using electronic toll collection (ETC). So, what should vehicle owners do if they want to get a free ETC tag?

A representative from VETC Automatic Toll Collection Company Limited stated that the company is currently providing customer support for installing toll tags everywhere, from dealerships and vehicle inspection centers to toll stations nationwide and even directly at customers' homes.

Accordingly, drivers can get free ETC tags for their vehicles in the following four ways:

Automatic toll collection tags are being affixed at toll stations. VETC has added a team to affix tags at each BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) station, allowing customers to conveniently affix the tags before passing through the station if needed.

Automatic toll collection tags are available at authorized dealerships. With a network of 73 locations spread across provinces and cities, VETC makes it easy for customers to find the nearest and most convenient location.

Vehicle inspection stickers can be affixed at inspection centers located in provinces and cities nationwide, with 31 locations in the North, 20 in the Central region, and 20 in the South.

In addition to the three methods above, VETC currently supports customers who want to apply the tag themselves at home. This is the most convenient method because customers can be anywhere; they just need to fill in their personal information on the VETC Home Tag Application website, and a staff member will call to confirm shortly afterward and send the tag to the address the customer provided.

All of the above methods for attaching ETC tags are free of charge.

Installing ETC tags will help drivers save time and reduce traffic congestion by eliminating the need to stop and queue to buy tickets; reduce environmental pollution by saving on printing paper and dust; eliminate the need for cash, limiting contact and the spread of disease; and save fuel with smoother traffic flow.

According to estimates, passing through the ETC toll lane will be about 60 times faster than the traditional MTC toll lane.

The Ministry of Transport has recently sent a document to the People's Committees of provinces and cities requesting the implementation of the Prime Minister's directive on collecting road service fees through electronic toll collection (ETC).

The Ministry of Transport has requested the People's Committees of provinces and cities to coordinate with the Vietnam Road Administration to develop traffic diversion and organization plans to ensure order, safety, and interconnectedness in order to implement the policy of maintaining only one mixed-traffic lane in each direction at toll stations. Simultaneously, they are to implement ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) on all expressways managed by local authorities, as directed by the Prime Minister.

The People's Committees of provinces and cities are urging civil servants, public employees, and workers to set an example by affixing tags to use the electronic toll collection service before July 31st.
