The reason for the cryptocurrency's freefall is believed to be related to the opposition from US leaders to Facebook's plan to launch its Libra cryptocurrency in 2020. In response to these reactions, Facebook stated that it would not launch Libra until the concerns of regulatory authorities were addressed.
