Elon Musk: 'Twitter is free'

According to the ReutersIn a Twitter post on October 28th, billionaire Elon Musk said "the bird is freed" shortly after news broke that he had completed the $44 billion acquisition of Twitter. Twitter's logo is a blue bird with its beak and body pointing upwards, explained as "the ultimate symbol of freedom, hope, and infinite possibilities," designed in 2012 by Doug Bowman, the social network's chief creative officer.

According to experts, Elon Musk's latest tweet not only implicitly confirms that the platform is now his, but also emphasizes his goal of promoting free speech on Twitter, "unlocking the extraordinary potential" of the social network. Previously, in his acquisition plan, the American billionaire had pledged to reform the platform by loosening content censorship and making the algorithms more transparent.

In another move shortly after taking over Twitter, the Tesla CEO also quickly fired four senior executives of the social network: CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, Chief Administrative Officer and Legal Officer Vijaya Gadde, and General Counsel Sean Edgett.

Elon Musk argues that these people are not transparent about the number of fake accounts on Twitter. The billionaire also aims to "eliminate" spam on Twitter and make the algorithms that determine how content is displayed to users more transparent.

However, Musk has yet to provide details on how he will achieve this goal and who will lead Twitter in the future. Furthermore, the Tesla CEO also has plans for a significant increase in Twitter's staff.

In an open letter to advertising partners on Twitter on October 27, Mr. Musk stated: "I didn't buy Twitter because it was an easy deal or because I wanted to make money from it. I did it because I wanted to help humanity, the people I love."

Earlier, on October 26th, billionaire Musk visited Twitter headquarters and stated that he had met many interesting people at the company. Musk's biographical information was then changed to "Chief Twit" as a way of declaring himself the new boss of Twitter.

In April, Musk announced he had reached an agreement to acquire Twitter for $44 billion, or $54.20 per share. In July, he announced his withdrawal, citing violations of several merger terms by the social network. Last month, he changed his mind again, stating he would still buy Twitter at the original price.
