Throughout 2011, and especially in early 2012, Windows 8 was constantly talked about. The Metro interface was certainly appealing, but the logo – the 'soul' of the brand – was also noteworthy.

Windows means window, and in fact, the Windows logo also closely resembles a window, even with Windows 1.0 and Windows' launch in 1989.
After that, Microsoft continuously changed its logo, adding some softer lines, brighter colors, and making it look very much like a flag fluttering in the wind. This is a very beautiful metaphorical symbol in the technology world.
And now, the upcoming Windows 8 will return to the angular logo with four windows. The colors will also be removed, leaving only a vibrant blue.
Microsoft hired the design consulting firm Pentagram to help develop Windows 8, and indeed, Metro is a rather impressive interface.
It was hoped that Microsoft would release its new version of Windows by the end of 2012. However, as of now, the company has not confirmed an official release date for Windows 8.
