Russians can still buy an iPhone 14.

(VTC News) -

Even though Apple has left Russia, Russians can still buy the iPhone 14 thanks to Moscow's parallel import program, according to Russian government officials.

RIA Novosti According to Russian Trade and Industry Minister Denis Manturov, Russians can still buy the iPhone 14 thanks to a parallel import program.

Accordingly, Russia announced this plan in March, allowing retailers to import products from abroad without needing permission from the trademark owner.

The iPhone 14 Pro was introduced at Apple's "Far Out" event.

Mr. Manturov said the plan also covers many other products from the West, such as luxury clothing and automobiles. The program could reach a value of $16 billion this year, equivalent to about 4% of Russia's 2021 import turnover.

When asked whether the new iPhones, announced by Apple on September 7th, would be imported under this plan, Minister Denis Manturov said: "Why not? If consumers want to buy these phones, they will have the opportunity."

Apple stopped selling new products in Russia in March, a week after Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine. However, iPhones, MacBooks, and other Apple items are still available in Russian stores, as retailers sell off remaining older models and try to acquire new devices through import programs.

According to the CNN, Russian mobile carrier MTS began selling the new iPhone 14 models on pre-orders on the morning of September 8th. Prices start at 84.990 rubles ($1.398) for the 128GB version.

MTS stated that delivery could take up to 120 days and that they reserve the right to cancel orders if they encounter difficulties importing the products.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
