The impressive sales record of the iPhone 5 demonstrated the strong appeal of this flagship product. However, the iPhone 5 still faced numerous complaints, ranging from Wi-Fi connectivity issues to map applications.

Map applications are a mess.

The most criticized aspect was the new map application on iOS 6. Apple's service, intended to replace Google Maps, had too many bugs, such as incorrect directions, wrongly marked locations, poor image quality, and was considered a disaster.

Too thin and too light.

One might have thought this was a particularly innovative design for the smartphone. Marketed as the lightest iPhone ever, Apple was probably surprised to hear people complaining that it was too light. Twitter user @Herseysdark described the iPhone 5 as "feeling like a toy."

Siri is even worse than before.

The Siri update for iOS 6 sometimes gives incorrect weather forecasts for cities with the same name but in different states. For example, when asked about the weather for New York City, Siri might give a result for New York in Texas.

Short battery life

Every new iPhone has been criticized for its battery life. In a topic on the Apple website, user mht83193 wrote, "The battery is terrible, I'm outraged." He described the iPhone's battery life dropping 40% (even when fully charged) in just one hour.

Light

Although seemingly less prone to scratches than the black version, the white iPhone 5 has a different problem. This model suffers from a small light leak in the upper right corner of the screen. The light leak is clearly visible when the screen is activated in the dark. The iPad 2 also had this problem in 2011.

Easily scratched

Instead of glass and stainless steel like the iPhone 4/4S, the iPhone 5 uses anodized aluminum on both the back and sides. However, according to feedback from many users, this material is very easily scratched, even when the iPhone 5 is still in the box.

Strange noises are appearing.

Some iPhone 5 owners hear a noise when shaking their iPhone. Some believe the noise is caused by camera components, while others say it's due to a loose battery. (If it's the latter, you can take your phone to an Apple Store for repair.)

WiFi error

Users have also complained about Apple's Wi-Fi connection being "annoyingly slow while other devices, including the iPad 3, connect normally" and "constantly dropping connections." However, some claim their iPhone 5s are still "super fast." Apple's customer service center says they have received feedback on this issue and are investigating the cause to provide a solution for customers as soon as possible.
