After years of being considered a niche genre, war films unexpectedly gained significant traction with two works, "Red Rain" and "Tunnels."

The 24th Vietnam Film Festival will take place in Ho Chi Minh City with many outstanding works, including "Red Rain" and "Underground Tunnel," both competing for the top prize.

Director Bui Thac Chuyen recently received a Certificate of Commendation from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for his work "Underground Tunnels," which made a significant impact during the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam.

Surpassing 200 billion VND in revenue, "Red Rain" has become the highest-grossing Vietnamese war film ever.

Nearly 50 Vietnamese films, including "Nguyen Ai Quoc in Hong Kong," "The Scent of Burning Grass," and "The Underground Tunnels," were screened free of charge at the National Exhibition and Convention Center.

The 81 fierce days and nights of defending the Quang Tri Citadel are recreated in a haunting and moving way through the images in the film "Red Rain".

Following the success of the film "The Tunnel," talented director Bui Thac Chuyen announced the release of a special edition for the April 30th National Day.

"I turned down an invitation to the film premiere so I could buy a ticket myself to enjoy a truly great movie...", Ha Anh Tuan shared on his personal page.

After two weeks without competition, Bui Thac Chuyen's film lost its box office crown to the newly released horror film "Finding the Corpse: The Headless Ghost".

Ho Thu Anh revealed that she had anticipated the audience's attention to this scene, and expressed confidence in the director and production team's handling of it.

The film "Tunnels: The Sun in the Darkness" was highly praised for its cast of talented young actors playing female guerrillas amidst the brutal battlefield.

The success of "Tunnels: The Sun in the Darkness" is not only measured by its 100 billion VND revenue, but also by its ability to attract a large young audience.
