The General Secretary affirmed that Petrovietnam has made significant contributions, playing an important role in stabilizing the macroeconomy and ensuring national energy security.

On the afternoon of September 21st, Petrovietnam Group held a ceremony to celebrate its 50th anniversary and receive the First-Class Labor Order. Attending the ceremony were General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; members of the Politburo, members of the Central Committee of the Party, leaders of central and local departments, ministries and agencies, and a large number of former and current leaders and oil and gas workers.

Having accompanied the nation for 50 years, the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Corporation has fulfilled its mission of building and developing the industry. oil and gas industry Synchronized and modern, on par with regional and global standards.

From exploration and extraction to the gas industry, processing, and distribution of petroleum, electricity, and renewable energy, high-quality technical services have formed a backbone energy infrastructure system, a national strategy – a driving force for the country's socio-economic development, as reflected in the "5 Safeties" and "5 Bests".

Notably, Petrovietnam has firmly ensured national energy security, playing a leading role in supplying essential energy sources: From having no oil or gas reserves, it has now extracted 441 million tons of oil and 196 billion cubic meters of gas. Annually, Petrovietnam meets 60-70% of the country's fuel needs, 70-80% of its domestic gas needs, and approximately 10% of its electricity production.

This is the foundation for maintaining socio-economic stability, creating confidence for production sectors and people's lives. In addition, Petrovietnam is an important pillar of economic security, ensuring food security, national defense security, and social welfare.

The Vietnam National Energy and Industry Corporation has affirmed its prestige and position as a leading economic group in the country with its "5 Firsts" achievements, notably being the largest enterprise in terms of scale, with total consolidated assets exceeding 1 trillion VND, equity capital of over 556 trillion VND; and being the unit with the highest contribution to the state budget, averaging 160 trillion VND per year.

Petrovietnam aims to be one of the world's 500 largest enterprises by 2030; to lead the formation of National Energy Industry Centers, and to become a symbol of Vietnamese intelligence, discipline, and aspiration.

By 2050, Petrovietnam aims to become an integrated, green, digital, and smart industrial and energy corporation, ranking among the leading corporations in the region and holding a global position.

Recognizing the significant contributions of the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Corporation to the country, at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam awarded the Corporation the First-Class Labor Order. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented the Corporation's leaders with First, Second, and Third-Class Labor Orders.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam congratulated the generations of leaders, engineers, and workers of Petrovietnam, wishing the energy industry continued breakthroughs in development, worthy of the unwavering spirit, pioneering tradition, and aspiration for progress of the heroic Vietnamese nation.

Looking back over the past 50 years, the General Secretary affirmed that Petrovietnam has made enormous contributions, for many years accounting for 20%-30% of the total state budget revenue, playing an important role in stabilizing the macroeconomy and ensuring national energy security; it has even contributed to maintaining the lifeblood of society and protecting the security of the regime during critical times, amidst global political upheavals.

"Looking back at 50 years of development of Petrovietnam I can draw a few conclusions about 'ambition and willpower'. That ambition and willpower, over the past 50 years, has led to success and self-sufficiency in the energy industry. This is a sign of maturity.

We have become self-sufficient in all those technologies, contributing to the development of the world's energy sector; striving towards clean energy, green energy, and aiming for technological and development goals."The General Secretary affirmed.

Highly appreciating Petrovietnam's initiative on the "STEM Education and Practice Room" program, the General Secretary requested the Minister of Education and Training, the Secretaries of provincial/city Party Committees, and the Director General of Vietnam Television to closely coordinate with Petrovietnam to effectively implement the program in a systematic manner; to summarize, evaluate, draw lessons learned, and further expand this very meaningful model and program.

Highlighting the outstanding achievements in the "5 An" mission and the "5 Nhất" achievements, the General Secretary emphasized that the core lesson here is: Discipline in implementation - risk management - continuous innovation - value chain linkage.

In the new development strategy, the General Secretary suggested that Petrovietnam must firmly ensure national energy security, structuring it according to a three-tiered model: stable and flexible traditional sources; liquefied natural gas, storage; and new sources such as wind and nuclear power; proactively building strategic reserve capacity, regulating supply in a flexible and coordinated manner linked to energy security, national defense security, and economic independence; proactively leading industrialization and modernization: developing industry and technical services as pillars; focusing on completing and expanding integrated refining-petroleum-chemical complexes; developing mechanical engineering for drilling rigs, energy equipment, and new materials, increasing the localization rate in the supply chain; building national ecological energy-industrial centers, linked to infrastructure and supporting industries.

The General Secretary also urged Petrovietnam to be a pioneer in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation: allocating sufficient resources to research and development to create the newest products and services, especially in key areas; accelerating the application of digital technology, artificial intelligence, and big data; proactively integrating internationally and leveraging the strengths of all economic sectors to promote overall development, focusing on strategic cooperation with strategic partners worldwide; participating deeply in the international energy and industrial value chains; and making the Petrovietnam brand an "economic and industrial ambassador" of Vietnam.

On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, in the presence of General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and other Party and State leaders, the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Corporation launched the Petrovietnam STEM Innovation program, building STEM meeting rooms applying digital technology, gradually upgrading the educational infrastructure system, and connecting schools, localities, and the international community.

As part of the celebrations, Petrovietnam inaugurated a Science and Technology Exhibition showcasing outstanding scientific and technological achievements over the past 50 years.

The exhibits on display at the exhibition are representative of the achievements and contributions in science and technology, affirming Petrovietnam's core competencies in the process of national development; demonstrating its stature, scale, and scope of operations.

Not only in the traditional oil and gas sector, Petrovietnam is also leading and guiding the development and integration of many industrial, service, and new energy sectors, especially in the offshore wind power sector, which has established its brand internationally.

The exhibition will take place over two days, September 21st and 22nd; admission is free for the public from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM on September 22nd.
