The newspaper SCMP According to reports, China has for the first time unveiled its newest supersonic anti-ship missile – a variant of the YJ-21. The YJ-21, also known as the Eagle Strike 21 air-launched ballistic missile, has a range of over 2.000 km.
Accordingly, two missiles bearing the designation '2PZD-21' were seen under the wings of an H-6K strategic bomber at the AirShow China 2022, held in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province from November 8-13.

The missile, designated “2PZD-21,” was seen mounted under the wing of an H-6K strategic bomber at the China Airshow in Zhuhai.
The missile's shape is similar to that of Russia's Kh-47 Kinzhal hypersonic missile, which is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead with high precision. This missile is believed to be able to reach speeds of Mach 12 with a range of over 2.000 km.
Dubbed the "carrier killer," the Kh-47 Kinzhal can be launched from MiG-31K interceptor aircraft or Tu-22M3 bombers. However, experts believe the Chinese variant is more powerful and would deter US warships from entering the area in the event of a conflict.
Military experts believe that the appearance of this weapon at the China Airshow could be seen as a warning from China to the United States and Taiwan.
Andrei Chang, editor-in-chief of the Canadian military magazine Kanwa Asian Defence, stated that China's YJ-21 missile is also larger than Russia's Kh-47 Kinzhal, meaning its combat range would exceed 2.000 km.
Meanwhile, Zhou Chenming, a researcher at the Yuan Wang Institute of Military Science and Technology in Beijing, stated that the YJ-21 missile's range, flight speed, and accuracy surpass those of the Kh-47 Kinzhal missile.
In April, the Chinese navy released a video of a YJ-21 missile being launched from a Type 055 destroyer – China's largest and most advanced destroyer. The video emerged while the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group was conducting exercises with the Japanese navy near the Korean Peninsula.
