Two dams in Hulunbuir city, Inner Mongolia, northern China, were reported to have collapsed on July 18 due to heavy rains that began on July 17.

On July 18, the upper dams of the Yong'an and Xinfa reservoirs broke and collapsed as the Nuomin River's water level continued to rise due to heavy rain, according to reports. People's DailyThe dam collapse affected 16.660 people, flooded 21.708,1 hectares of farmland, and destroyed 22 bridges, 124 culverts, and 15,6 km of highway.

At 8 p.m. that same day, the national flood control agency issued a Level 3 emergency response and dispatched a task force to the scene to guide and assist in managing the local emergency situation.

Local residents were evacuated to safe areas before the dam broke. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.
