(VTC News) -

A wave of sell-offs and sharp declines in stocks caused the VN-Index to plummet, closing the session down 68,31 points.

The stock market experienced a "Black Monday" as widespread sell-offs occurred, with hundreds of stocks plummeting in price. Consequently, at the close of trading, the VN-Index fell 68,31 points to 1.310,95 points. Across the entire exchange, there were 37 gainers, 443 losers, including 176 stocks that hit their lower limit.

The HNX-Index fell 21,61 points to 337,51 points. Across the entire exchange, there were 54 gainers and 193 losers, with 53 stocks hitting their lower limit.

The UPCoM-Index fell 4,61 points to 99,54 points.

Market liquidity decreased compared to the previous session, with the total value of matched orders reaching VND 22.228 billion, down 16%, of which the value of matched orders on the HoSE exchange alone decreased by 15% to VND 19.576 billion.

The VN30 basket fell 77,9 points to 1.366 points. All 30 stocks were in the red, with 16 hitting the floor limit.

A series of large-cap stocks plummeted, dragging the market down. Among them, SAB (Sabeco), GAS (PetroVietnam Gas), PNJ (Phu Nhuan Jewelry), MWG (Mobile World Group), and FPT (FPT Group) all fell by over 6%.

Similarly, stocks like BVH (Bao Viet), BID (BIDV), CTG (VietinBank), HPG (Hoa Phat), PLX (Petrolimex), TCB (Techcombank), etc., also fell sharply by over 2%.

However, the market still received capital inflows as investors poured into buying shares of some companies such as FLC, BHN, etc. But the capital flow was still divided, with both buying and selling taking place.

According to experts, fear is spreading throughout the market. Investors need to remain calm and avoid excessive panic. They also need to define a clear investment strategy to build confidence, such as finding undervalued value stocks and avoiding investing in speculative stocks.

Investors also need to develop an investment philosophy and adhere to that strategy to avoid being influenced by misleading information, and should consult with professional advisory firms to mitigate risks.
