On May 17th, the Ministry of Health announced an additional 1.785 COVID-19 cases, all recorded domestically across 48 provinces and cities.

Provinces and cities that recorded cases are Hanoi (419), Vinh Phuc (119), Phu Tho (111), Nghe An (97), Hai Duong (71), Quang Ninh (70), Yen Bai (70), Tuyen Quang (57), Bac Ninh (51), Bac Kan (48), Lao Cai (46), Thai Binh (44), Thai Nguyen (41), Da Nang (39), Ho Chi Minh City (36), Ha Nam (29), Son La (27), Binh Duong (26), Nam Dinh (26), Hung Yen (25), Quang Binh (23), Hoa Binh (20), Ha Tinh (20), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (19), Ninh Binh (19);

Ha Giang (19), Quang Ngai (18), Bac Giang (17), Quang Tri (17), Binh Phuoc (17), Dak Nong (15), Cao Bang (14), Lai Chau (13), Dien Bien (12), Thua Thien Hue (11), Tay Ninh (10), Thanh Hoa (10), Gia Lai (8), Lang Son (8), Khanh Hoa (7), Phu Yen (7), Ca Mau (7), Binh Thuan (5), Binh Dinh (5), Ben Tre (5), Dong Thap (5), Long An (1), Hau Giang (1).

Thus, after 24 hours, Bac Ninh decreased by 47 cases, Quang Binh by 21, Hai Phong by 19, Phu Tho increased by 58, Vinh Phuc by 56, and Nghe An by 33. The average number of new infections recorded nationwide over the past 7 days is 2.251 cases/day. On May 17th, 5.094 patients nationwide were declared recovered.

During the fourth wave of the pandemic (from April 27, 2021), Vietnam added 10.692.210 COVID-19 cases, of which 9.362.040 patients were declared recovered.

On May 16th, 338.133 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered nationwide. Thus, the total number of vaccine doses administered in Vietnam is now 217.377.159, of which 2.653.085 doses were given to children aged 5-11 years (2.652.133 doses of the first dose and 952 doses of the second dose).
