"Owning three electric cars is cheaper than owning one diesel car."
For Vu Quang Chien, an engineer who previously used a diesel pickup truck, the cost issue of switching to an electric vehicle is viewed from a very practical perspective.
Previously, his old Ford Ranger cost him around 3 million VND per month for maintenance. Since switching to an electric vehicle, many familiar expenses like oil changes, system cleaning, and minor repairs have almost completely disappeared. Maintenance costs are now only a few hundred thousand VND per visit. The recent service he had done on his VF 3 only cost him a little over 400.000 VND. Before that, a more upscale model, the VF 8, also only cost a few hundred thousand VND for maintenance.

"I often joke that owning three electric cars is cheaper than owning one diesel car.""That's a humorous observation, Mr. Chien remarked."
Mr. Do Van Nghia (Hai Phong), who works in the real estate sector and has owned nearly a dozen gasoline and diesel cars, views the issue from a long-term perspective. After more than a year of using the first VinFast electric car model, he switched to the VF 9 and is currently using the VF 7.
According to him, low maintenance costs are also an important factor in helping electric vehicles retain their value better. With gasoline cars, after 70.000–80.000 km, many models begin to require major overhauls with costs that can range from 30 to 100 million VND (depending on the model). With electric cars, the cost of major maintenance milestones remains very low, averaging only about 1 million VND per service.
Notably, the current maintenance cycle for VinFast electric vehicles is 15.000 km, instead of approximately 5.000 km for gasoline vehicles. This means that owners not only save on maintenance costs but also reduce the number of times they need to take their vehicles to the workshop throughout their lifespan – a particularly useful factor for busy users.

Experience "unlimited" benefits thanks to zero energy costs.
For many car owners, energy costs are a prominent benefit of switching to electric vehicles. Mr. Nguyen Duc Manh, owner of a VF 7, said the difference is very noticeable during use. Previously, with his gasoline car consuming 11-12 liters/100 km in the city, he had to spend about 2-3 million VND on fuel each month. This expense forced him to "hold back" on the accelerator on many journeys.
After switching to an electric vehicle, the problem completely changed. In the first year, he traveled 30.000 km but spent almost no money on energy. Even when paying for it himself, he calculated that each full charge cost just over 200.000 VND, much less than a gasoline car for the same distance.
This is also the experience of many VinFast owners in Vietnam. Currently, the Vietnamese car manufacturer is offering free battery charging until February 10, 2029, for customers who purchase a car from February 10, 2026 (maximum 10 times/month), equivalent to nearly 3 years without having to worry about charging costs.
More importantly, according to Mr. Manh, no longer having to "calculate every kilometer" makes him more comfortable behind the wheel, enhancing his driving experience. In the context of constantly fluctuating gasoline and diesel prices, which affect the daily lives of Vietnamese people, VinFast electric vehicles are therefore a long-term investment that is both "easy on the wallet" and "easy on the mind."
From April 3rd to May 31st, 2026, VinFast is launching the "Inspiring Service Workshop" contest to share real-life stories about after-sales service experiences for electric vehicles nationwide. Service workshops will post videos documenting their vehicle maintenance journey, customer service moments, and positive user feedback. Customers can follow, interact, leave comments, and support their favorite service workshops at https://creator.gen-green.global/vinfast/vinfastxdv/chi-tiet.
