On the morning of June 19th, at a conference providing information on some typical cases and incidents in the economic and environmental fields occurring in the city, Lieutenant Colonel Do The Thang, Deputy Head of the Department of Criminal Investigation of Corruption, Economic Crimes, and Smuggling (PC03), Hanoi City Police, spoke about the rights of victims in these cases. Responding to a question about the fact that many of those who purchased vacation travel contracts were elderly, and in some cases even passed away before the matter was discovered and processed, Lieutenant Colonel Do The Thang stated that relatives and legal heirs can still report the case for consideration and resolution according to the law.
"For cases where elderly individuals have passed away but their names appear on vacation contracts, the Hanoi Police Department requests that their relatives or legal heirs bring relevant documents and papers to the police station for reporting purposes, to assist in the investigation and resolution in accordance with the law." Lieutenant Colonel Do The Thang emphasized.

According to the head of PC03, in order to be considered for protection of rights and recovery of assets, those who have been defrauded or their relatives need to proactively provide contracts, payment receipts, and related documents to the investigating agency.
Regarding the flow of money obtained through criminal activity, the Hanoi City Police said that the suspects used the stolen funds to invest, conduct business, and carry out various other activities to conceal the origin of the assets. To date, the investigating agency has prosecuted two defendants for "Money Laundering" and is continuing to expand the investigation.
The investigating agency is also clarifying the potential involvement of other organizations and individuals in the case.
Providing further information at the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of the Hanoi City Police, stated that to date, the investigative agency has identified 27 companies involved in the fraudulent scheme of buying, selling, and transferring vacation packages.
The Director of the Hanoi City Police Department believes the actual number of casualties could be even higher because there are still many victims or relatives of victims. Not yet reported.
The Hanoi City Police are urging all relevant individuals, especially relatives of those who have passed away and participated in these holiday travel contracts, to promptly file complaints and provide documents to the investigating agency in order to protect their legal rights and interests as prescribed by law.
