An additional 16.553 COVID-19 cases have been reported.

On the afternoon of February 8th, the Ministry of Health announced an additional 16.553 cases of COVID-19, of which 16.513 were recorded domestically.

Of the 16.553 new cases, 40 were imported and 16.513 were domestically recorded (an increase of 259 cases compared to the previous day) across 62 provinces and cities (including 12.055 community cases).

Provinces and cities that recorded cases are Hanoi (2.791), Khanh Hoa (798), Hai Phong (748), Binh Dinh (742), Binh Phuoc (718), Tra Vinh (575), Tay Ninh (587), Ca Mau (587), Dak Lak (481), Da Nang (474), Vinh Long (470), Ho Chi Minh City (436), Hung Yen (384), Bac Ninh (382), Quang Ninh (343), Thanh Hoa (290), Ben Tre (285), Hau Giang (253), Bac Lieu (250), Lam Dong (236), Thua Thien Hue (232), Can Tho (208), Vinh Phuc (197), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (193), Thai Binh (183), Bac Giang (182), Gia Lai (181), Nam Dinh (181), Hai Duong (181), Kien Giang (172), Hoa Binh (163), An Giang (161), Quang Nam (158), Binh Thuan (157), Quang Ngai (151), Dong Thap (150), Thai Nguyen (137), Soc Trang (134), Ninh Binh (131), Nghe An (129), Quang Tri (114), Phu Tho (111), Dong Nai (105), Dak Nong (103), Ha Nam (95), Yen Bai (86), Lao Cai (74), Son La (67), Bac Kan (66), Lang Son (66), Binh Duong (59), Long An (53), Ninh Thuan (46), Cao Bang (39), Tuyen Quang (38), Tien Giang (37), Quang Binh (37), Kon Tum (26), Lai Chau (21), Ha Tinh (21), Dien Bien (20), Phu Yen (18).

Thus, after 24 hours, Ha Giang decreased by 263, Hai Duong by 262, Vinh Long by 229, Dak Lak increased by 481, Gia Lai increased by 179, and Da Nang increased by 165. The average number of new infections recorded nationwide over the past 7 days is 16.263 cases/day. On January 8th, 8.990 patients nationwide were announced to have recovered.

To date, Vietnam has recorded 30 cases of COVID-19 caused by the Omicron variant, all of which were isolated immediately after entry in Hanoi (1), Quang Nam (14), Ho Chi Minh City (11), Hai Duong (1), Hai Phong (1), and Thanh Hoa (2).

During the fourth wave of the pandemic (from April 27th) to date, Vietnam has added 1.870.417 COVID-19 cases, of which 1.485.221 patients have been declared recovered.

On January 7th, 1.414.067 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered nationwide. Thus, the total number of vaccine doses administered in Vietnam is now 159.152.206, including 78.206.607 doses of the first dose, 70.770.669 doses of the second dose, and 10.174.930 doses of the third dose (supplementary/booster and third dose of the Abdala vaccine).
